Once there was a poor shoemaker.
He worked hard every day.

"Tomorrow I will make these shoes," he said sadly.
"Then I don't know what we'll do.
We have no more money for leather."
His wife tried to comfort him.
He cut out the leather carefully.
He would sew it in the morning.
He said his prayers.
Then he went to bed with a heavy heart.
He didn't know how he would survive.
2. The Miracle 🌟
The next morning, the shoemaker woke up early.
He went to his workbench.
He couldn't believe his eyes!
The shoes were already made!
They were finished perfectly!
Every stitch was perfect!
The shoes were beautiful!
"Who could have done this?" he wondered.
His wife came to look.
She was amazed too!
"This is a miracle!" said his wife.
Just then, a customer came in!
"What beautiful shoes!" he exclaimed.
"I must have them!
How much do they cost?"
The shoes were so perfect, the customer paid a high price!
The shoemaker now had money for leather for two pairs of shoes!
And food for dinner!
They thanked God for this blessing!
But they wondered who had helped them!
3. It Happens Again 🎁
That evening, the shoemaker cut leather for two pairs of shoes.
He laid out the pieces on his workbench.
"I'll sew them tomorrow," he said.
Then he and his wife went to bed.
They wondered if the miracle would happen again.
The next morning, they found two pairs of beautiful shoes!
Again, every stitch was perfect!
"Who is helping us?" asked the wife.
Before they could wonder long, customers came!
They paid well for the beautiful shoes!
Now the shoemaker had money for four pairs of shoes!
This continued night after night!
He cut out the leather each evening!
Every morning, perfect shoes were waiting!
He sold them all!
Soon the shoemaker and his wife were no longer poor!
They had enough money for food and rent!
They could buy good leather!
Business was wonderful!
But they still didn't know who was helping them!
4. The Plan 🔍
One evening, close to Christmas, the wife had an idea.
"Let's stay up tonight!" she said.
"Let's hide and watch!
We'll find out who's helping us!"
The shoemaker agreed!
They cut out the leather as usual.
But instead of going to bed, they hid!
They hid behind some coats in the corner!
They left a candle burning!
They waited quietly!
5. The Little Elves 🧚
At midnight, something magical happened!
Two tiny elves came through the window!
They were no bigger than the shoemaker's hand!
They wore ragged little clothes!
They hopped onto the workbench!
They started working immediately!
Their tiny fingers moved so fast!
Snip, snap, stitch, stitch!
They sewed and hammered!
They worked like lightning!
The shoemaker and his wife watched in amazement!
The elves never stopped working!
They finished all the shoes perfectly!
Then they jumped down!
They ran away through the window!
"Did you see that?" whispered the wife.
"Elves have been helping us all this time!"
"Those kind little elves!" said the shoemaker.
"We must thank them somehow!"
They went to bed filled with wonder!
6. The Gift 🎁
The next morning, the wife said,
"Those poor little elves wear ragged clothes!
They must be cold!
I will make them each a shirt, coat, and pants!
And I'll knit them little socks!"
"I'll make them each tiny shoes!" said the shoemaker.
"They deserve to have good shoes!"
They worked all day!
They made the tiniest, nicest clothes!
They made the smallest, finest shoes!
That evening, they didn't lay out leather!
Instead, they laid out their gifts!
Tiny shirts and coats!
Little pants and socks!
Two perfect pairs of tiny shoes!
Then they hid and waited!
7. The Elves' Surprise 😊
At midnight, the elves arrived!
They jumped onto the workbench!
They were ready to work!
But they saw no leather!
Instead, they saw beautiful new clothes!
The elves were so surprised!
They picked up the tiny clothes!
They put them on!
The clothes fit perfectly!
The shoes fit perfectly!
The elves were so happy!
They danced and sang:
"Now we're boys so fine and neat!
Why make shoes for others' feet?"
They danced all around the room!
They jumped on the tables and chairs!
They laughed with joy!
Then they danced out the window!
The shoemaker and his wife watched them go!
They were so happy to see the elves happy!
"Goodbye, dear friends!" they whispered.
"Thank you for everything!"
8. After the Elves 🌈
The elves never came back!
But the shoemaker was fine!
He had learned to make shoes as well as the elves!
His business continued to grow!
People loved his beautiful shoes!
He and his wife were never poor again!
They always remembered the kind elves!
Every Christmas, they left out tiny clothes!
Just in case the elves came back!
But they never saw them again!
