Once upon a time, there was a poor boy named Jack.
He lived with his mother in a tiny cottage.
They had no money at all.
They were very, very poor.
Life was hard for them.
All they had was one cow.
Her name was Milky White.
She gave them milk every day.
They sold the milk at the market.
That was how they got money for food.
2. Selling the Cow 🐄
One sad day, Milky White stopped giving milk.
"Oh no!" said Mother.
"Now we have nothing to sell!
We must sell Milky White herself.
Take her to market, Jack."
Jack felt very sad.
He loved Milky White so much!
But they needed money for food.
"I'll get a good price for her," Jack promised.
He put a rope around Milky White's neck.
They walked down the road together.
3. The Strange Man 👴
On the way to market, Jack met an old man.
The man had a long white beard.
His eyes twinkled mysteriously.
"Where are you going?" asked the man.
"To market to sell my cow," said Jack.
The old man smiled a strange smile.
"I'll trade you for that cow!" he said.
He reached into his pocket.
He pulled out five colored beans.
They were red, blue, green, yellow, and purple!
"These are magic beans!" said the man.
"Plant them tonight," he whispered.
"By morning, they'll grow to the sky!"
Jack's eyes grew wide.
"Really?" he asked.
"I promise!" said the old man.
Jack made the trade quickly.
He gave the man Milky White.
The man gave him the five beans.
Jack ran home excited!
He couldn't wait to tell Mother!
4. Mother's Anger 😠
Jack burst through the door.
"Mother! Mother!" he shouted.
"Look what I got for Milky White!"
He showed her the five beans.
Mother's face turned red!
"BEANS?!" she screamed.
"You sold our cow for BEANS?!
How could you be so foolish!
Now we'll starve for sure!"
She was so angry!
Mother grabbed the beans from Jack's hand.
She threw them out the window!
"Go to bed without supper!" she cried.
"What have you done, you silly boy!"
Jack went to his room sadly.
His stomach rumbled with hunger.
He felt terrible about what he'd done.
5. The Magic Beanstalk 🌿
Jack woke up the next morning.
Something felt different.
His room was darker than usual.
He looked out his window.
His mouth dropped open!
A HUGE beanstalk grew outside!
It was thick and tall and green!
It went up, up, up into the clouds!
The beans had been magic after all!
"The old man was telling the truth!" gasped Jack.
Jack ran outside right away.
The beanstalk was enormous!
It had thick, strong vines.
Perfect for climbing!
"I must see where it goes!" said Jack.
He started climbing up and up.
He climbed higher than the house.
He climbed higher than the trees.
He climbed into the clouds!
Soon his cottage looked tiny below.
6. Above the Clouds ☁️
Finally, Jack reached the top!
He stepped onto a cloud.
It felt soft under his feet!
He couldn't believe his eyes.
There was a whole land up here!
In the distance, he saw a huge castle.
It was the biggest castle ever!
Everything was giant-sized!
Even the grass was tall!
"A giant must live here!" thought Jack.
7. The Giant's Wife 👵
Jack walked to the castle.
He knocked on the enormous door.
A giant woman opened it!
She was as big as a house!
Jack was scared but hungry.
"Please, ma'am," said Jack bravely.
"Could you give me some breakfast?
I've been climbing all morning!"
The woman looked down at him kindly.
"You poor little thing!" she said.
"Come in quickly!" she whispered.
"But you must hide!
My husband is a giant!
He loves to eat little boys!
If he finds you, you're in danger!"
Jack's eyes went wide with fear!
She took him to the kitchen.
She gave him bread and cheese.
She gave him a cup of milk.
The cup was as big as a bathtub!
Jack ate and drank quickly.
8. Fee Fi Fo Fum! 👹
Suddenly, the whole castle shook!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Heavy footsteps were coming!
"He's home!" cried the wife.
"Quick! Hide in the oven!"
Jack jumped into the oven fast.
He peeked through a crack.
In stomped the biggest giant ever!
He had a big bushy beard.
His voice was like thunder!
The giant sniffed the air.
"Fee-fi-fo-fum!
I smell the blood of an Englishman!
Be he alive, or be he dead,
I'll grind his bones to make my bread!"
Jack's heart pounded in his chest!
Could the giant smell him?
"Nonsense, dear," said the wife.
"You smell the cows you had for breakfast!
Now sit down and eat your lunch!"
9. The Golden Hen 🐔
The giant ate a huge meal.
When he finished, he shouted,
"Bring me my hen!"
His wife brought a beautiful hen.
The hen's feathers shone like gold!
"Lay!" commanded the giant.
And the hen laid a golden egg!
A real egg made of solid gold!
Jack watched with wide eyes.
"That hen is magical!" he thought.
The giant watched his hen lay eggs.
One egg, two eggs, three eggs!
Soon he started to yawn.
His eyes grew heavy.
His head began to nod.
Soon the giant was snoring!
ZZZZZZZ!
The whole castle shook with his snores!
Jack saw his chance!
He crept out of the oven quietly.
10. The Daring Escape 🏃
Jack tiptoed to the table.
The hen was sitting there.
Jack grabbed her gently!
"Cluck!" said the hen softly.
Jack's heart froze!
But the giant kept snoring.
Jack ran as fast as he could!
He ran out of the castle!
The hen was heavy in his arms.
But he didn't stop running!
Jack reached the beanstalk!
He started climbing down fast.
Down, down, down he went!
The hen clucked nervously.
"Don't worry," Jack whispered.
"We're almost home!"
11. Safe at Home 🏡
Jack reached the ground safely!
He ran to his cottage.
"Mother! Mother!" he shouted.
"Look what I brought!"
Mother came running outside.
Jack showed her the golden hen.
"Lay!" he said to the hen.
The hen laid a golden egg!
Mother's eyes filled with tears of joy!
"We're rich!" she cried.
"We'll never be hungry again!"
Every day, the hen laid golden eggs.
Jack and his mother sold the eggs.
They bought food and nice clothes.
They fixed their little cottage.
Life was wonderful now!
But Jack wondered about the castle.
"What else does the giant have?" he thought.
12. The Second Visit 🎵
A few weeks later, Jack was curious.
"I'll climb the beanstalk again!" he decided.
His mother said, "Be careful!"
Jack promised he would.
Up the beanstalk he climbed!
He went to the castle again.
This time he wore a disguise!
He knocked on the door.
The giant's wife answered.
"May I have some food?" Jack asked sweetly.
The wife let him in.
She gave him food again.
But soon the giant came home!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
"Hide!" whispered the wife.
Jack hid in a cupboard this time.
The giant sniffed and snorted.
"Fee-fi-fo-fum!
I smell that boy again!"
"No, dear," said his wife.
"You're imagining things!"
13. The Magic Harp 🎶
After eating, the giant shouted,
"Bring me my harp!"
His wife brought a beautiful golden harp.
She set it on the table.
Jack peeked through the cupboard door.
"Sing!" commanded the giant.
The harp began to play by itself!
Beautiful music filled the castle!
It played the most wonderful songs!
The giant smiled and relaxed.
Soon the giant fell asleep.
His snores were loud as thunder!
Jack crept out of the cupboard.
He grabbed the magic harp!
But the harp cried out:
"Master! Master!" it shouted!
The giant woke up instantly!
"Someone's stealing my harp!" he roared.
He jumped up from his chair!
Jack ran as fast as he could!
The giant chased after him!
14. The Chase 🏃♂️
Jack ran out of the castle!
The giant was right behind him!
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The ground shook with every step!
"Come back, you little thief!" roared the giant!
Jack reached the beanstalk!
He jumped onto it and climbed down!
The harp kept calling, "Master! Master!"
The giant reached the beanstalk.
He started climbing down too!
Jack climbed faster than ever before!
His hands hurt from the vines!
But he couldn't stop!
The giant was getting closer!
The whole beanstalk was shaking!
15. Chopping Down the Beanstalk 🪓
"Mother!" Jack shouted from above.
"Bring the axe! Quick!"
Mother ran outside with an axe.
Jack dropped to the ground.
He grabbed the axe from her hands!
Jack swung the axe at the beanstalk!
CHOP! CHOP! CHOP!
The giant was halfway down now!
"Faster, Jack!" cried Mother.
Jack chopped with all his might!
CRACK!
The beanstalk started to fall!
"NOOOOOO!" screamed the giant.
Down, down, down it fell!
The giant fell with it!
He crashed into the ground with a mighty BOOM!
And that was the end of the giant!
16. Happily Ever After 💰
Jack and his mother were safe!
They had the golden hen.
They had the magic harp.
The harp played beautiful songs all day.
The hen laid golden eggs.
They sold the golden eggs.
They became very wealthy.
They built a beautiful new house.
They helped all the poor people in the village.
Everyone loved them!
Jack learned an important lesson.
Sometimes taking a chance can lead to great things!
The magic beans had changed their lives.
Jack and his mother lived happily ever after.
And they never climbed a beanstalk again!
